Food for bronchitis
Some foods produce less carbon dioxide as a result of digestion, which requires less lung labor to eliminate this gas. Here is a list of foods that are best for consumption during the bronchitis crisis, as well as the least recommended foods.
Foods allowed in bronchitis
- Vegetables, preferably raw;
- Fish, meat or chicken;
- Small ripe fruit;
- Drinks without sugar.
Bronchitis is a chronic condition that makes breathing difficult and is strongly influenced by diet, which can make lung work easier or more difficult.
The digestion process produces carbon dioxide (CO2) released from the lungs. This process of expulsion requires pulmonary work which, during a bout of bronchitis or asthma, worsens the feeling of shortness of breath.
Prohibited foods in bronchitis
- Refrigerants;
- Coffee or any other beverage containing caffeine;
- Chocolate;
- noodles
By digesting this type of food, there is a greater amount of released CO2 that requires more lung effort, which is already very difficult in a crisis situation. Therefore, choosing which foods to ingest or avoid can be considered part of the treatment for bronchitis.
Foods rich in zinc, vitamins A and C and rich in omega-3 strengthen the immune system and can be considered protective foods for the body. They can prevent or delay attacks of bronchitis or asthma.
